What is Reiki?

The word Reiki is used in the West to represent a Japanese healing system founded by Mikao Usui.

This system is made up of precepts, attunements, physical practice on self and others, mantras, symbols, traditional techniques and meditations.

It is often referred to in Japan as 'Reiki Ryoho' meaning spiritual energy healing method.

Reiki is traditionally written with 2 Japanese kanji which are translated to 'spiritual energy'

This refers to the universal energy of all things, of which everything is created from and surrounded by.

When you receive Reiki, a flow of energy is realigned within the body. It is an invitation to  the body to come back into balance and to realign with your true path, source and spirit.

The physical practice of Reiki starts and ends with traditional techniques and meditation and involves a series of hand placements on or over the body, a transfer of energy from the practitioner to the client then takes place.

I channel this energy to assist your body, mind and spirit to come back into alignment and to increase energetic flow therefore enabling the powerful innate healing of self to be activated, which is what I have personally experienced.  

Your body integrates this energy in the days following our session, deep relaxation or an abundance of energy may be experienced as well as a sense of calm, heightened intuition and clarity and natural vitality. The flow of Ki has been strengthened, and energy will flow where it is most needed, be it on a physical, emotional or spiritual level.

There are so many wonderful benefits to Reiki, such as:

• Increased clarity and clearer mind

• Balanced and clear energy flow throughout the body 

• Heightened intuition

• Increased energy and sense of vitality

Who doesn't want to receive these benefits! 

I feel it's important to honor the traditions of Mikao Usui and Reiki Ryoho and I teach the system over the 3 levels: Shoden, Okuden and Shinpiden. 

These teachings draw on Mikao Usui's traditional teaching methods, with each level deepening your practice and are closely in alignment with the Japanese teachings and traditions.

This involves referring to and working with the energy in the hara - the gateway to the essence of true self and metaphysical meanings of hand placements on the body, 

A lot of Western teachings have since incorporated the Chakras into Reiki training, these can be used in your energy work at a later date if you choose.

The teachings of Mikao Usui are based upon self development and developing a spiritual practice which is then incorporated into your daily life, as a result of this you will naturally connect more deeply with your intuition and spiritual energy (Reiki) 

As you move through the levels and teachings of Reiki Ryoho, it then becomes a way of life, something you naturally draw upon throughout the day to bring balance and connection back to self and those around you.

Offering Reiki to others is just one part of this process as is teaching if you feel called. Each level is the next step in your connection to self and therefore allowing you to connect more deeply with others. 

As a Reiki practitioner or teacher you are not a 'healer' the healing is done by you on yourself or by others through your assistance. Reiki simply allows energy within a person to flow more freely and go to where it is needed within the body, this increase in energy and release of blockages then allows the bodies natural healing abilities to kick in and release what is no longer needed and bring increased vitality to that person. You simply act as a conduit for the energy,

This is a beautiful system to learn just for yourself for your own personal development, to extend your practice to family and friends or you also have the opportunity to become a practitioner or teacher when the timing is right for you
